Secaucus High School strives to provide an integrated, harmonious, and continuous educational process. Through this process we endeavor to develop in each person the capacity for self-worth and a willingness to participate responsibly and productively in society. We also demonstrate through our educational philosophy and goals that education is both a right and a privilege.

Our high school is among the smallest in Hudson County. We are proud of our diversified student body, which is characteristic of a much larger school. Our combined energies serve to create an atmosphere of respect, support, and cooperation among students, faculty, administration, support staff, and the community. Because we are an extension of the community, we strive to create a stimulating environment that encourages sensitivity to cultural differences while providing for the maximum development of intellectual, ethical, social emotional, and physical growth.

Secaucus High School offers its students a broad variety of programs that will prepare them to pursue a wide range of post-secondary choices. Our academic courses, which include a number of honors and advanced placement offerings, are supported by a dedicated and talented staff that provides cross-content curriculum experiences, addresses the core-curriculum standards, and encourages the utilization of modern technology available to us today. We have now entered our fourth year of development of the Science Academy (which now has been incorporated into a Science and Math Academy), a four-year program of rigorous and intensive training in science, technology, and math. The Board of Education has agreed to implement a Media Arts Academy in the fall of 2007. This second academy will provide avenues of study in the communicative arts beginning with the incoming freshman class. In addition, seniors may enroll in the Senior Option, a pilot program established and authorized by the State Department of Education. This program allows students to leave campus during the spring semester of their senior year to attend college classes, work at a job that is career-related, or perform volunteer community service. The Educators-in-Training Program allows seniors interested in a teaching career to work alongside professional staff members as assistants in the elementary classrooms in the district.

Our students benefit from smaller than average class sizes and student-to-teacher ratio. This is possible because we have fewer administrators per student than other districts. On average, more than eighty-percent of our graduates go on to continue their education at colleges and universities such as Princeton, Rutgers, Dartmouth, Notre Dame, Penn State, Georgetown, the U.S. Naval Academy, many New Jersey state colleges and private universities, as well as technical schools.

Our students have scored particularly well in national academic contests, most notably in math and English. We can also boast of extremely strong programs in the fine and performing arts. Our wide range of co-curricular programs provides students with the opportunity to strengthen their skills in a variety of areas through competitive academic teams, dramatic and musical performance and literary and world language activities.

The administrators and staff at Secaucus High School have a firm commitment to providing an educational setting for our students that affords them the opportunity to grow into and achieve success in their adult lives through comprehensive experiences in the academics, athletics and the arts.
